Health Update on Pete- Great News!

Hi Friends,

I wanted to give you an update on Pete's health. We are so grateful for all of your thoughts and prayers over the past year and a half. Keep them coming. Your prayers are working! God is so good!

Medical Update on Pete

Prayers are being answered! Thank you! We’ve seen several new specialists the past couple of months and things seem to be headed in a more positive direction. He has an amazing new jaw doctor in Boise (which is closer than Salt Lake yay!). There is a much clearer path to treatment and Pete is even talking about possibly starting a part-time job January of 2018 (we aren’t sure if that will happen yet, but it is SO good to see him in such a positive mood looking ahead with excitement).

Pete said in a FB post… “the light at the end of the tunnel is no longer a freight train”.

I laughed at that but then had to realize that we both have been in a place where we really thought “this is it”… that he would have to deal with this ongoing pain and that it was incurable (short of a miracle which we were definitely holding out for). But great news from several Doc’s who have given us other things to try which seem to be helping. God is GREAT!

This picture was taken at the Coral Pink Sand Dunes State Park in Kanab UT

Pete and I had a couple of hours after his appointment with the Specialist in St. George last month for my dad to show us around.

We feel so blessed to have been able to drive through Zion National Park while we were in St. George. My dad gave us a wonderful tour. Pete kind of overdid that day, but it was good to get him out and about enjoying the beautiful scenery. We are looking forward to getting him all healed up so that he can do more stuff like this.

Pete Passed His Licensing Test!

On Wednesday October 25th, Pete traveled to Boise Idaho to take his Licensing test to complete his Masters in Social Work. He started this process Fall of 2013 and was able to complete the program through Utah State University this past August. The medical struggles have made continuing school very tough. Thanks to your continued prayers and encouragement, he is finished and looking forward to getting back to work when he gets better. I am SO PROUD of this man and so blessed to be his wife. Looking back on all of this, my faith in the power of prayer have increased and I know that God is faithful. He is "my refuge and my fortress" and I will continue to trust His plan.

I will leave you with a verse from the Bible that Pete has leaned on during his time of suffering this past year and a half. If you are going through hard times, I hope this helps you and gives you peace.

Psalm 91

He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High
Will abide in the shadow of the Almighty.
2 I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress,
My God, in whom I trust!”

3 For it is He who delivers you from the snare of the trapper
And from the deadly pestilence.
4 He will cover you with His pinions,
And under His wings you may seek refuge;
His faithfulness is a shield and bulwark.

5 You will not be afraid of the terror by night,
Or of the arrow that flies by day;
6 Of the pestilence that stalks in darkness,
Or of the destruction that lays waste at noon.
7 A thousand may fall at your side
And ten thousand at your right hand,
But it shall not approach you.
8 You will only look on with your eyes
And see the recompense of the wicked.
9 For you have made the Lord, my refuge,
Even the Most High, your dwelling place.
10 No evil will befall you,
Nor will any plague come near your tent.

11 For He will give His angels charge concerning you,
To guard you in all your ways.
12 They will bear you up in their hands,
That you do not strike your foot against a stone.
13 You will tread upon the lion and cobra,
The young lion and the serpent you will trample down.

14 “Because he has loved Me, therefore I will deliver him;
I will set him securely on high, because he has known My name.
15 “He will call upon Me, and I will answer him;
I will be with him in trouble;
I will rescue him and honor him.
16 “With a long life I will satisfy him
And let him see My salvation.”

Blessings to you!

Reflection from Jaime PLUS Couple of open Advent Concert Dates Left

Hi Friends,

Fall is upon us, although snow did hit parts of the country these past few weeks. I’m choosing to look at it as a blessing because it managed to put fires out across the Northwest. Prayers answered, thank You Lord! You are faithful! Fall is my husband’s favorite time of year. Fall colors, temps drop, and Pumpkin Spice EVERYTHING arrives on the shelves. I like it too, especially living in Idaho. Such brilliant beautiful colors surround us.

Reflection from Jaime

It’s a blessing to have this fall beauty amidst the tragedies we’ve seen this past month. Hurricane’s,  Earthquakes and Fires devastating communities, the horrible event in Las Vegas and the hateful words being flung around social media. What a mess. It’s so easy to get discouraged and anxious about everything going on around us. And it even easier to get sucked into the negativity that gets flung around television and social media which is why I feel blessed that God is still speaking to us and trying to get our attention during this time. The 2nd reading at Mass this past weekend was Philippians 4:6-9 and it was perfect timing.

6. Brothers and sisters: Have no anxiety at all, but in everything,
by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, make your requests known to God.

7. Then the peace of God that surpasses all understanding
will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

8. Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is honorable,
whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is gracious,
if there is any excellence and if there is anything worthy of praise,
think about these things.

9. Keep on doing what you have learned and received and heard and seen in me.
Then the God of peace will be with you.

Me?... get anxious? Boy, I really needed this verse and it’s amazing when God sends us what we need right when we need it. God wants to give us that peace that surpasses all understanding. I long for that peace, don’t you? And I LOVE the reminder in verse 8 because so often we fix our eyes on things that are not pure, not honorable, not lovely or gracious. No wonder we are anxious and angry and find it so easy to say hateful things to or about others. I know that until I can really grasp and to put into practice what this passage is saying, I will continue to be anxious, longing for peace.

Viruses (yes… 2) Knocked me Down

I have been pretty ill the past couple of months and have seen more Dr.’s and taken more pills and supplements than I ever care to see or take again. I am finally starting to feel human after having 2 viruses hit me one right after the other. I can’t tell you how excited I am to be able to get back to my daily routine and get busy again. Unfortunately, because of the illnesses I had to postpone 2 concert dates this past month. But God is always 1000 steps ahead of us and the blessings that have come out of all of this only remind me even more that we serve an Awesome God! I am so amazed at how God orchestrates everything, taking what I feel is a complete "fail" and makes something wonderful out of it (in not just my life but in others lives as well).

Concert Postponed Due To Illness

Hi Friends. Due to illness, I am going to have to cancel this weekends concert at Christ the King Catholic Church in Idaho Falls. I apologize and I'm disappointed that I wasn't able to get well enough before this weekend after repeated trips to the doctor this past month. The concert will be rescheduled for sometime during Advent. Keep an eye on my website calendar for the new date. Have a blessed weekend.

Good To Be Home - Fun Summer Pictures & Medical Update on Pete

Hello Friends,

I hope you are enjoying your summer! It’s been very hot here in Idaho but recently we got a refreshing little break with temps in the high 80’s and low 90’s. Since moving back to Twin Falls I’ve enjoyed walking the Canyon Springs grade again, catching up with friends as well as spending time with my mom and helping her with projects around the house (last week we stained the deck). Also spent some much needed time away in the mountains with my dad in Stanley Basin and got some water skiing done on Alturas Lake. It’s been a great summer so far.

I’ve been working hard on my music (prepping concerts, booking/ filling my concert calendar and planning a new project for 2018). It feels so good to be getting busy with music again and I’m excited and feel very fortunate to dive back into it full-time.

Back In The Touring “Saddle”

The middle of July I was blessed to be able to travel to Weiser and Fruitland, ID to give concerts titled “Celebrating Christ… Celebrating Life”. Thank you to all who came to listen. I had such a wonderful time and pray that you were all blessed and encouraged by the music and the message. I often come away from these events feeling more blessed than my audience, but the things you share with me after each show reminds me how God’s hand is touching us all.

Thank you to Pastor Mark and Nettie of Cornerstone Assembly in Weiser, ID and Fr. Camillo, Deacon Tom and Tina Turpin of Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Fruitland, ID for inviting me to come share. May God bless you and your members/ parishioners as you continue to love and serve the people in your communities and beyond.

Hubby’s Medical Update

Since we moved back to Twin Falls the last week of May, Pete has been able to rest and not worry about anything except for the 2 summer classes he’s finishing up for his Master’s Degree in Social Work through Utah State University. He commutes to Brigham one day each week and only has 2 more weeks to drive down until he is officially FINISHED WITH GRAD SCHOOL!

What a relief and what a blessing that he is going to finish while dealing with these medical issues since January of 2016. He is such an amazing man. Pulled straight A’s the entire time (except a B in one class). Smarty pants. I’m kind of proud of him (wink).

Once he finishes, the only thing he will have to deal with is getting better. For the past 3 weeks, we’ve been seeing a new Neurologist, what a blessing! He put him on a few new meds to try and decipher whether he has Trigeminal Neuralgia or Hemicrania Continua. Neither are great diagnosis, but for now, it’s a 2-month waiting game on the new meds to see how it affects his pain levels. After that we should have a clearer path to treatment than the medication guessing game we have been playing. Thank you so much for your support and prayers flowing in. I don’t know where we would be without you.

Have a safe and blessed summer!

Jaime

May - New Chapter, Tour Calendar, Husbands Health Update

Hi Friends!

Oh my goodness! It’s May! I apologize for not getting a newsletter update out since February. Things have been very busy as I wrap up my last semester working for St. John’s Student Center at ISU and also work to fill my concert calendar to head out on the road starting mid-July.  Wrapped up in all of that is preparing for yet another move for us, (back to Twin Falls, ID where we can be closer to family while Pete takes this next year to rest and try to get on top of the pain from the Trigeminal Neuralgia).

  Thank you St. John's and the wonderful people
in Pocatello for a great 3 years.

Pete’s talk/presentation on “Making Sense Out of Suffering”
While this past year has been hard for us, we’ve learned so much going through the process of dealing with chronic pain. Pete was able to give one final talk/presentation this past month before he takes a long break. The talk was titled “Making Sense Out of Suffering”. I’ve attached the video link for you to watch if you would like. Even though he was in a lot of pain that day, he was able to get through the talk thanks to a lot of prayers from a lot of people who knew he was presenting that night.

I think it is one of the best talks he has given and I hope you have time to watch it.
I am so proud of Pete and blessed to be his wife.

"Ave Maria" (Jaime put this together specifically for the Covid 19 pandemic). It was made to help draw us into deeper prayer for our front-line workers, for each other and for an end to the pandemic. May it bring comfort and hope to those who listen and pray along.
